New York Standard Pocket Watch, size 16, with hunter’s case (1914 approximately).
This was the first pocket watch that I have restored. Similar to the clocks, I had to completely take apart the movement and clean it in an ultrasonic cleaner, then re-assemble and lubricate with special watch oil.
When it was built, this watch was a mid-grade, I purchased this broken at an antique shop for $20. I’ve learned that the key to buying broken pocket watches is to make sure the balance wheel rotates freely or else you might have a broken balance staff which becomes more complicated to repair.
